School district FAQ

Does Gaur Vision Group issue J-1 visas?

No. Only a U.S. Department of State–designated sponsor can issue Form DS-2019 and administer the J-1 program. We coordinate the recruitment and placement workflow with the district and sponsor.

Who makes the hiring decision?

The district evaluates candidates and makes its own hiring decision. Sponsor and visa approvals remain separate.

How long can an exchange teacher stay?

The J-1 Teacher category allows an initial stay of up to three years and a sponsor-requested extension of one or two years, for a five-year maximum. Continuations into years three through five require district approval; years four and five also require sponsor and government approval and are never guaranteed. What does “rotating network” mean?

We maintain a continuing pipeline of screened international candidates. As individual exchange programs conclude, schools can plan future talent needs with a refreshed network rather than treating each vacancy as a cold start.

What must compensation look like?

Pay must satisfy applicable prevailing-wage, program, licensure, and district requirements and be commensurate with similarly situated U.S. workers. Financial arrangements are disclosed in writing.

International applicant FAQ

Does applying guarantee a job or visa?

No. District selection, sponsor acceptance, visa issuance, and entry are all separate decisions. We never promise an outcome.

Who pays the upfront costs?

Applicants pay sponsor fees, SEVIS and visa fees, credential and licensing costs, flights, hotels, and personal relocation expenses unless a written placement offer states otherwise. Gaur Vision Group charges you nothing — no placement fee, no sponsorship fee, no hourly charge. Optional services are listed separately and never affect placement.

Will I be told all the costs before I commit?

Yes. You get a written, itemized list of every cost before you sign anything—sponsor program fees, SEVIS, visa fees, credential evaluation, and travel. No hidden charges, ever, and the federal J-1 Teacher rule (external site) requires this disclosure at recruitment and selection.

What does Gaur Vision Group charge the district for placing me?

See the current fee schedule (as of October 2026) — paid entirely by the district. Your salary is never reduced. You pay $0 in placement fees, and we never touch your paycheck. Continuations into years three through five require district approval.

Can I bring my family?

A spouse or qualifying child may be eligible for J-2 status. Each dependent has separate documents, costs, insurance requirements, and consular review. Discuss your case with the designated sponsor.

Do I need health insurance?

Yes. J-1 participants and any J-2 dependents must maintain qualifying insurance throughout the program. The designated sponsor verifies coverage requirements.

Can I leave a placement early?

Review the signed employment and placement agreement and contact the designated sponsor before acting. Any contractual amount must be itemized; visa-status consequences are controlled by the sponsor and U.S. rules.

Why a two-page U.S. résumé?

It lets school HR teams quickly see role fit, credentials, grades served, caseload, and measurable results. Concise presentation helps us pitch your capabilities and can speed an initial match.
